Crafting our welcome. Interlace your hope for the American dream into a welcome blanket, distributed to the newly-arrived through the Welcome Blanket project. Learn new fiber arts skills at the Makery. 

Music Performance: 2-2:45pm: The Sasha Band

The Sasha Band, founded by Bandleader, Sasha Stern, hails from Boston, Connecticut, and New York. Their repertoire includes Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, and Jewish songs with a mix of folk music, pop, rock, soul, and funk.

Borders – whether physical, social or digital – and their creation are often at the centre of dynamics of oppression and can be root causes of violence. They can also be the centre of connection between divided communities.

The Build Peace 2019 conference will focus on peace, conflict, and the resilience fostered along borders, examining how social innovation through technology, storytelling, and the arts can both create and bridge divides.

THE LAW: Learn about Nuances and Challenges of Immigration Law

What are the legal implications of today's immigration and migration? Learn the nuances and challenges from local attorney, Julio Cortes del Olmo, and ask questions, hosted by Welcome Blanket. 

Music Performance: 7-7:30pm: Tao He

An Erhuist from China, Tao He graduated from the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Before moving to Brookline, Tao played the Erhu in the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. Through the Erhu–a popular and prominent traditional Chinese instrument–Tao will present the beautiful and melodious folk music of China.
